Day 1 – Edinburgh:
Your journey begins by departing from Edinburgh Waverley Station and heading across the magnificent Forth Railway Bridge. The afternoon is yours to do as you wish on board; explore the train, relax in your private quarters, or head to the Observation Car and take in the stunning scenery. A leisurely afternon tea is followed later that evening by an informal dinner
Day 2 – Kyle of Lochalsh:
As we leave Ketih, we head towards Inverness where the ever-changing landscapes grow ever more magnificent. Lunch is served as we head towards Kyle of Lochalsh on one of the most scenic railway routes in the UK. As we arrive at the fishing village of Plockton, disembark for a boat trip to see a colony of wild seals and take in the exceptional views across the bay to the Applecross Mountains. Later, take a woodland walk, with time after to enjoy a Highland welcome at the Plockton Hotel. Returning to the train for a formal dinner, the train remains stabled in Kyle of Lochalsh.
Please note: On some dates throughout the year, you will visit Cawdor Castle instead of Plockton.
Day 3 – Boat of Garten:
Our onboard host takes us for an early morning walk over the bridge that links the mainland with the Isle of Skye, however, guests can choose to take a short drive to Eilean Donan Castle should they wish. Returning to the train as we depart, breakfast is served as we head back on ourselves as far as Dingwall. Be sure to look out for the view of Plockton across the bay. As we reach Garve, we disembark to visit the Glen Ord Distillery, one of the oldest in Scotland and situated on the edge of the Black Isle. Enjoy a tour of the distillery as well as a private tasting session. Next, we travel south to Carrbridge where we visit Ballindalloch Castle. Guests have the choice of a private tour of the castle, 9 holes of golf on the castle’s own course or a private tour of Scotland’s only single estate distillery. Returning to the train for an informal dinner later that day, followed by tales and weaponry displays by our onboard Highlander.
Day 4 – Rothiemurchus:
A brief transfer by coach takes you to Rothiemurchus Estate in the centre of the Cairngorms National Park. Guests have the option of clay pigeon shooting, fishing or a tour of the estate, before we rejoin the train for lunch. We head south to Glamis Castle, home of the late HM Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. Later that day, we return to the train for a formal dinner and entertainment.
Day 5 – Edinburgh:
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and absorb the scenery glide by before we return to Edinburgh Waverley Station where your journey concludes.

All prices shown are for one adult ticket. Sleeper journeys are based on two adults sharing accommodation. Single occupancy of cabins may incur additional charge.

This is done so the operators can add you to their guest list, send you your tickets and ensure the meals served to you onboard meet your dietary requirements. By booking with LuxuryTrainTickets.com, you are agreeing that you allow such necessary details to be shared with the operators under the cause of legitimate interest. There are a limited number of private tables and cabin types onboard. While we keep our website updated regularly, there may be occasions when private tables or cabin types become fully booked meaning we are unable to fulfil your booking requirements. Should this be the case, we will contact you to discuss alternative options and refund any payments made.
We have the right to refuse the request of a deposit when a journey is scheduled to depart in less than 16 weeks. If you choose to book with a deposit you must pay the remaining balance in full 15 weeks before departure at the latest. Should you fail to pay the remaining balance 15 weeks prior to departure, you will forfeit your deposit and your booking. Deposits are accepted by request. Most journeys require a 25% deposit to secure a booking however some specialist journeys do require a 50% deposit. Please contact us for confirmation.
Tickets are sent electronically around 5 days before departure. You will not receive tickets or any form of 'gift pack' in the post. This is in an attempt to reduce paper use and do our part for the environment.
