Day 1 – Edinburgh:
Your journey begins at the Balmoral Hotel where you will meet your whisky ambassador for a welcome dram before we depart. The Belmond Royal Scotsman departs from Edinburgh Waverley Station and heads north across the Firth of Forth over the stunning Forth Railway Bridge. Enjoy an afternoon tea as the scenery glides by as we continue along the coast before arriving in Keith. An informal dinner is served followed by traditional Scottish entertainment by local musicians.
Day 2 – Kyle of Lochalsh:
Today we head towards Inverness, the capital of the Highlands where we visit the new Macallan Distillery in the heart of the Speyside whisky region. Disembark for a private tour, giving you insight into the process, production and the passion that make this Scotch so special. Rejoin the train for lunch as we travel on one of the most scenic railway routes in the UK, passing Loch Luichart and the Torridon Mountains. Take in the beautiful scenery as we arrive at the fishing village of Plockton. A formal dinner is served on board followed by coffee and liqueurs in the Observation Car.
Day 3 – Carrbridge:
Enjoy breakfast on board as we travel east to Carrbridge. Before arrival, join your whisky ambassador in the Observation Car for a special single-cask tasting, followed by a lunch. We disembark in Aviemore to visit the historic Tomatin Distillery and learn about this magical single malt. After a guided tour, guests are treated to a tasting of three Tomatin single malts. Return to the train at the Boat of Garten for an informal dinner, after which you make your way to the Observation Car where local musicals play out the evening.
Day 4 – Rothiemurchus:
After a brief transfer by coach, we arrive at Rothiemurchus Estate in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. Guests are offered the choice of pursuits including clay pigeon shooting, fishing or a tour of the estate. Return to the train in Kinguissie for a leisurely lunch as we head south before disembarking at Tullibardine Distillery in Blackford village. Your private VIP tour includes nosing straight from the cask as well as a visit to the bonded warehouse and a tasting of three Tllibardine Highland single malts. We rejoin the train in Perth and prepare for a formal dinner as we head towards Dundee. Traditional Scottish music rounds off the finale of your Whisky journey.
Day 5 – Edinburgh:
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and enjoy the scenery glide past the window before we return to Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station. Guests are invited by our whisky ambassador to spend the morning at the Society’s headquarters in Edinburgh’s New Town.

We will contact you one to 10 working days after you have paid to confirm your booking, take further details of those travelling and send your itinerary. In the rare instance your booking cannot be fulfilled for any reason, such as the operator cancelling a journey or anything else beyond our control, we will be in touch with alternative options or will refund your payment.
All prices shown are for one adult ticket. Sleeper journeys are based on two adults sharing accommodation. Single occupancy of cabins may incur additional charge.

As an authorised ticketing agent of luxury train journeys, we may need to pass some of your details (such as your name and dietary requirements) on to the train operators in order to complete your booking. This is done so the operators can add you to their guest list, send you your tickets and ensure the meals served to you onboard meet your dietary requirements. By booking with LuxuryTrainTickets.com, you are agreeing that you allow such necessary details to be shared with the operators under the cause of legitimate interest. There are a limited number of private tables and cabin types onboard. While we keep our website updated regularly, there may be occasions when private tables or cabin types become fully booked meaning we are unable to fulfil your booking requirements. Should this be the case, we will contact you to discuss alternative options and refund any payments made.
We have the right to refuse the request of a deposit when a journey is scheduled to depart in less than 16 weeks. If you choose to book with a deposit you must pay the remaining balance in full 15 weeks before departure at the latest. Should you fail to pay the remaining balance 15 weeks prior to departure, you will forfeit your deposit and your booking. Deposits are accepted by request. Most journeys require a 25% deposit to secure a booking however some specialist journeys do require a 50% deposit. Please contact us for confirmation.
Tickets are sent electronically around 5 days before departure. You will not receive tickets or any form of 'gift pack' in the post. This is in an attempt to reduce paper use and do our part for the environment.
