Day 1 – Edinburgh:
Your journey begins as we depart from Edinburgh Waverley Station and head through picturesque scenery. Afternoon tea is served on board after which you are free to enjoy leisure time admiring the views passing by, exploring the train or settling in your private cabin. Later that evening, enjoy an informal dinner followed by entertainment in the Observation Car
Day 2 – Glenfinnan:
We head west through Fort William and past the stunning views of Ben Nevis until we reach Arisaig where passengers disembark for a leisurely stroll along Morar Sands, an enticing beauty spot with exceptional views of the Isle of Skye. Lunch is served on board as we head back towards Fort William where we disembark to enjoy a visit to historic Glenfinnan. A local guide brings stories to life of Scottish heroes before we enjoy a cream tea at Inverlochy Castle. Guests can also choose a hike with a mountain ranger through the scenic Nevis Gorge to The Steall Waterfall, if they prefer. Head back to the train to relax before an informal dinner is served.
Day 3 – Mount Stuart:
After a short transfer by ferry, we reach the Isle of Bute with its varied landscapes and rich wildlife. Guests enjoy a visit to Mount Start, a Victorian Gothic house with an exceptional privately held collection of family portraits. This evening guests are treated to a formal dinner on board.
Day 4 – Keith:
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast as we head back towards Edinburgh Waverley Station ready to commence the second half of your journey. Spend the morning with a guided tour of Edinburgh and a light lunch before returning to the train and where your journey begins once more. We head north over the Forth Rail Bridge as we head towards Perth where stunning views are around every corner. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon tea before we arrive in Keith. Guests enjoy an informal dinner aboard before entertainment in the Observation Car.
Day 5 – Kyle of Lochalsh:
After breakfast, we leave Keith and head west towards Inverness. Lunch is served on board as we head towards Kyle of Lochalsh on one of the most scenic railway routes in the UK. When we arrive in Plockton, disembark for a boat trip to see wild seals or enjoy a dram and traditional Highland welcome at the Plockton Hotel. Later that day, head back to the train for a formal dinner followed by some social time in the Observation Car with fellow guests.
Please note: On some occasional dates, you will visit Cawdor Castle instead of Plockton
Day 6 – Boat of Garten:
For those who choose, enjoy an early-morning walk over the bridge that links the mainland with the Isle of Skye. For those who prefer things a little more relaxed, enjoy a short drive before breakfast to Eilean Donan Castle. After breakfast, we head back towards Dingwall for some more scenic views before we reach Inverness. We continue to Carrbridge where we disembark to visit Ballindalloch Castle and its beautiful gardens. Here, guests have a choice of a castle tour, 9 holes of golf on the castle’s own course or a tour of Scotland's only single estate distillery. Dinner is served on board, after which local musicians entertain in the Observation Car.
Day 7 – Rothiemurchus:
After a short transfer by coach, we reach Rothiemurchus Estate in the Cairngorms National Park. Guests have the choice of clay pigeon shooting, fishing or a guided walk. We rejoin the train once more at Kingussie where lunch is served on board and we journey south to Glamis Castle, the childhood home of the late HM Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. Later that day, return to the train for a formal dinner followed by entertainment.
Day 8 – Edinburgh:
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast as we depart from Dundee and head back to Waverley Station, Edinburgh.

We will contact you one to 10 working days after you have paid to confirm your booking, take further details of those travelling and send your itinerary. In the rare instance your booking cannot be fulfilled for any reason, such as the operator cancelling a journey or anything else beyond our control, we will be in touch with alternative options or will refund your payment.
All prices shown are for one adult ticket. Sleeper journeys are based on two adults sharing accommodation. Single occupancy of cabins may incur additional charge.

As an authorised ticketing agent of luxury train journeys, we may need to pass some of your details (such as your name and dietary requirements) on to the train operators in order to complete your booking. This is done so the operators can add you to their guest list, send you your tickets and ensure the meals served to you onboard meet your dietary requirements. By booking with LuxuryTrainTickets.com, you are agreeing that you allow such necessary details to be shared with the operators under the cause of legitimate interest. There are a limited number of private tables and cabin types onboard. While we keep our website updated regularly, there may be occasions when private tables or cabin types become fully booked meaning we are unable to fulfil your booking requirements. Should this be the case, we will contact you to discuss alternative options and refund any payments made.
We have the right to refuse the request of a deposit when a journey is scheduled to depart in less than 16 weeks. If you choose to book with a deposit you must pay the remaining balance in full 15 weeks before departure at the latest. Should you fail to pay the remaining balance 15 weeks prior to departure, you will forfeit your deposit and your booking. Deposits are accepted by request. Most journeys require a 25% deposit to secure a booking however some specialist journeys do require a 50% deposit. Please contact us for confirmation.
Tickets are sent electronically around 5 days before departure. You will not receive tickets or any form of 'gift pack' in the post. This is in an attempt to reduce paper use and do our part for the environment.
