The Royal Scotsman is on of the world's most luxurious sleeper trains and on the Clans and Castles and Isles journey, you will experience five nights aboard the Royal Scotsman, where you'll journey the west coast of Scotland. The Clans, Castles and Isles journey will take you to visit some of Scotland's most picturesque destinations, including, the Isles of Mull, Bute and an exclusive visit to the Oban historic distillery. There are also a couple of visits to Scotland's most celebrated castles, Duart Castle and Drumlanrig Castle. As with all Royal Scotsman journeys, this is an all-inclusive experience, similar to an Orient Express Scotland journey, whereby your meals, excursions, drinks and onboard entertainment are all included.
Please note: There are NO single cabins on board the Royal Scotsman. Solo travellers who book a double or twin cabin will need to pay a "sole occupancy charge", which is the cost of another adult ticket

Day 1 – Edinburgh:
Your adventure begins in Edinburgh where you board the Royal Scotsman luxury sleeper train in the afternoon and head west past Loch Lomond. With leisure time aboard the train, now is the perfect time to settle into your luxurious cabin, explore the train or head to the bar car, all the while admiring the glorious views. As day turns to night, an informal dinner is served with entertainment in the observation car.
Day 2 – Glenfinnan:
Continuing west past Britain’s highest mountain route, look for Ben Nevis from the Observation Car before disembarking at Arisaig for a morning stroll along the sands of Moror. An incredible soft white beach with incredible views of the Cuillin mountain range. Rejoin the train where lunch is served as we head towards the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct. This afternoon offers two choices; take a guided tour to explore Glenfinnan and discover the history of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s rebellion or take a hike with a mountain guide through Glen Nevis to the Steall Waterfall. The day concludes with a delicious dinner with Scottish live music in the Observation Car.
Day 3 – Oban:
Breakfast begins the day before an exclusive visit to the Oban Distillery, producer of some of the world’s finest malts. After your visit, cross to the Isle of Mull and visit the 13th-century Duart Castle before returning to the Royal Scotsman for a fantastic formal dinner on board.
Day 4 – Wemyss Bay:
After a leisurely breakfast, the train pulls into Wemyss Bay where you venture to the Isle of Bute. Here you visit Mount Stuart House, an incredible Gothic mansion surrounded by beautiful gardens and wild woodlands. The day concludes with an informal dinner on board the Royal Scotsman followed later by traditional entertainment.
Day 5 – Nith Valley:
Today head towards Drumlanrig Castle, home of the Duchess of Buccleuch and Queensberry. Incredible views courtesy of the North Valley are here to be savoured before taking your choice of tours. Explore the architecture and roam the lavish gardens, or discover the Buccleuch collection of fine art. Head back to the Royal Scotsman for your final dinner on board before a musical farewell in the Observation Car.
Day 6 – Edinburgh:
The Clans and Castles' journey aboard the Royal Scotsman concludes with a leisurely breakfast as the train returns to the Scottish capital.

PLEASE NOTE: Receiving receipt of payment is not confirmation that your booking has been successful. We will contact you one to 10 working days after you have paid to confirm your booking, take further details of those travelling and send your itinerary. In the rare instance your booking cannot be fulfilled for any reason, such as the operator cancelling a journey or anything else beyond our control, we will be in touch with alternative options or will refund your payment.
All prices shown are for one adult ticket. Sleeper journeys are based on two adults sharing accommodation. Single occupancy of cabins may incur additional charge.

As an authorised ticketing agent of luxury train journeys, we may need to pass some of your details (such as your name and dietary requirements) on to the train operators in order to complete your booking. This is done so the operators can add you to their guest list, send you your tickets and ensure the meals served to you onboard meet your dietary requirements. By booking with LuxuryTrainTickets.com, you are agreeing that you allow such necessary details to be shared with the operators under the cause of legitimate interest. There are a limited number of private tables and cabin types onboard. While we keep our website updated regularly, there may be occasions when private tables or cabin types become fully booked meaning we are unable to fulfil your booking requirements. Should this be the case, we will contact you to discuss alternative options and refund any payments made.
We have the right to refuse the request of a deposit when a journey is scheduled to depart in less than 16 weeks. If you choose to book with a deposit you must pay the remaining balance in full 15 weeks before departure at the latest. Should you fail to pay the remaining balance 15 weeks prior to departure, you will forfeit your deposit and your booking. Deposits are accepted by request. Most journeys require a 25% deposit to secure a booking however some specialist journeys do require a 50% deposit. Please contact us for confirmation.
Tickets are sent electronically around 5 days before departure. You will not receive tickets or any form of 'gift pack' in the post. This is in an attempt to reduce paper use and do our part for the environment.
