Friday: London – Bishops Lydeard
In the mid-afternoon, step on board the Britannic Explorer at London Victoria Station. Settle into your stylish contemporary suite and take in all the beautiful design details. Then, the first of many culinary delights is served. Enjoy your traditional Cornish Afternoon Tea while admiring the scenic views outside your window. Your journey will take you through the picturesque North Wessex Downs and the charming Somerset market towns of Frome and Taunton.
As evening approaches, you will arrive at the West Somerset Railway, featuring 20 miles of heritage track winding through the countryside toward Dunster. Head to the bar to socialise with fellow guests over a selection of signature cocktails. Then, take your place in the elegant restaurant car, where you'll enjoy a meal crafted by the renowned chef Simon Rogan. As the restaurateur and Chef Patron of the three-Michelin-starred L’Enclume, he is a pioneer of farm-to-fork cuisine in the UK, offering dishes inspired by seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and innovative flavours.
After a captivating night of entertainment on board, retire to your suite for a restful night.
Saturday: Bishops Lydeard – Penzance – Fowey
Savour a relaxed brunch this morning as you glide through the English Countryside. Today’s journey takes you to the south coast of Devon, where you will join the renowned Riviera Line. This scenic route hugs the coastline, offering stunning views of the ocean from charming towns like Teignmouth and the iconic Dawlish Sea Wall. As you bypass Dartmoor National Park to reach Plymouth, you then enter Cornwall, or Kernow as it's locally known. The final stretch to Penzance is equally enchanting, revealing glimpses of the shimmering sea in the Cornish light as you pass through St Austell and Truro.
After lunch, you can either disembark at St Erth to explore the artistic haven of St Ives or continue on to Penzance for a guided tour of the Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens. Here, you can admire James Turrell’s ‘Aqua Oscura’ art installation, which transforms your view of the sky and tree canopy uniquely from a former Victorian water tank. Following this, indulge in a private Cornish wine tasting overlooking the picturesque St Michael’s Mount.
In the late afternoon, rejoin the train as it heads back towards Fowey. The train will pause for the night on a tranquil track with views of the river. Take this opportunity to enjoy a leisurely evening with wellness treatments in the suite or some fun in the bar, before relishing another exquisite dinner and engaging entertainment on board.
Sunday: Fowey – Bruton
This morning, select from a variety of activities to enjoy in and around the charming harbour town of Fowey and the Lostwithiel area, known for its rich ancient heritage and beautiful gardens. Choices include coastal hikes, private boat tours, and other customised activities. Afterwards, return to the train in Fowey and unwind as you journey to the delightful market town of Bruton in Somerset. Next, visit the renowned Hauser & Wirth contemporary art gallery for a private, after-hours tour, followed by a drinks reception and an exclusive dinner. The train will rest overnight on the serene East Somerset Railway.
Monday: Castle Cary – London
Breakfast is served as the train sets off on its journey back to London. You will arrive at Victoria Station in the early morning, prepared to carry on with your day feeling refreshed and revitalised.

We will contact you one to 10 working days after you have paid to confirm your booking, take further details of those travelling and send your itinerary. In the rare instance your booking cannot be fulfilled for any reason, such as the operator cancelling a journey or anything else beyond our control, we will be in touch with alternative options or will refund your payment.
All prices shown are for one adult ticket. Sleeper journeys are based on two adults sharing accommodation. Single occupancy of cabins may incur additional charge.

As an authorised ticketing agent of luxury train journeys, we may need to pass some of your details (such as your name and dietary requirements) on to the train operators in order to complete your booking. This is done so the operators can add you to their guest list, send you your tickets and ensure the meals served to you onboard meet your dietary requirements. By booking with LuxuryTrainTickets.com, you are agreeing that you allow such necessary details to be shared with the operators under the cause of legitimate interest. There are a limited number of private tables and cabin types onboard. While we keep our website updated regularly, there may be occasions when private tables or cabin types become fully booked meaning we are unable to fulfil your booking requirements. Should this be the case, we will contact you to discuss alternative options and refund any payments made.
We have the right to refuse the request of a deposit when a journey is scheduled to depart in less than 16 weeks. If you choose to book with a deposit you must pay the remaining balance in full 15 weeks before departure at the latest. Should you fail to pay the remaining balance 15 weeks prior to departure, you will forfeit your deposit and your booking. Deposits are accepted by request. Most journeys require a 25% deposit to secure a booking however some specialist journeys do require a 50% deposit. Please contact us for confirmation.
Tickets are sent electronically around 5 days before departure. You will not receive tickets or any form of 'gift pack' in the post. This is in an attempt to reduce paper use and do our part for the environment.
